3 Bang For Your Buck CVO Mods

Updated: 4 days ago

Apparently, when you decide to purchase a Harley Davidson CVO, you are not looking to spend extra coin changing, and heavily modifying your new machine. This makes sense to me, as the CVO models come with all the bells and whistles, not to mention a hefty price tag.

For those that are not familiar with my motorcyle purchases, I have owned many different Harley Davidson models over the last ten years, starting with a limited edition Sporster 1200, my first bike after passing the weekend riding course. Fast forward to 2024 which ended with me purchasing a stunning CVO Road Glide ST, boasting a massive 121cc engine, which in my opinion, is an absolute dream bike.

Every previous bike that I have purchased from my local dealership, Petersons HD South Miami, has left the dealership with a stage 1 upgrade, and different handlbars. Everyone knows that Harleys are not Harleys without an exhaust change right? Well, this is what I always thought too, but I'm not sure if getting older has changed my perspective, or the $41,000+ price tag that hit my pocket for the bike. Needles to say, the bike left the dealership as it came out of the crate, stock!

I could tell you all day long how amazing this machine is, but maybe that's for a future blog, let me know if you would like that. Anyway, lets stick to script.

I rode the bike stock for a few months to really get a feel for anything I would want to change, and of course the pipes were a consideration. Now the look of the Screamin Eagle pipes that are on the 2024 CVO RG ST are very very pretty, BUT, the sound is like a vacuum! I'm used to running Rhineheart that have an amazing throaty deep rumble, my favourite sound ever! But I just can't bring myself to switch them out. Wouldn't it be cool if a company came out with a little wiget that transforme the stock sound? Messing with the baffles is not an option right now as I would void the warranty.

So, I decided after many rides, the pipes are staying but three mods that dont break the bank have given my bike that little extra I was looking for.

The mirrors on the CVO are the same basic mirrors that are on all Harley models, and reason for that is safety regulations. Now I dont know if you've seen the stock mirrors but in my opinion, they look cheap and even though they have great field of view, they are pretty ugly. The new mirrors I have on her now are from Arlen Ness, My go to mirror company. They are the Forged Mini Stocker Gloss Black, yes, they are much smaller than stock but still give me plenty of view. I will point out that you do have to play with them a little, as I have noticed a blind spot issue. So if you decide on smaller mirrors, take the bike out into traffic and adjust the mirrors in real time.

The biggest difference to the look of the bike, is the Klock Werks 8inch Kolor Flare Windshield. I wasn't keen on the look at first, but the more I saw them on other peoples bikes, they grew on me. I decided to go for the Red and of course, it was out of stock! Good thing with ordering directly from the Klock Werks website is they give you the opportunity to be waitlisted. I'm not sure if the other bigger companies with lots of different brands do this, let me know. As soon as it came back in stock I snagged it. It probably took a month if I remember correctly. Its an easy install and changes your bike up, big time! If you are interested, check their website out and take a look at the different colors and sizes.

I was heading out to bike night the day I installed it, and on reflection would have taken the bike around the block in daylight to see how i did with the difference in windshield, but my first ride with it was evening and the sun had already gone down.

Now the reason I should have tested it during daylight is, the difference in color actually threw me a little, and it took time for me to adjust to the height. Even though its the lowest height they do in that shield, it's still a little higher than my stock, which I still love btw.

Anyway, I love it and Its on just in time for my ride to Daytona Bike Week.

The last install is a Matte Forged Carbon Fibre tag holder from Carbon Fibre Racing. Its sleek, and minimal, without brand labels plastered on it, and is an exact match for the carbon accents on the bike. It cost around $30 too, so cant complain at that price. There isn't mush to say about a tag holder, just that it looks like its came with the bike, so good job there!
