Just You, the Motorcycle and the Open Road. What gets better than that?

Riding solo has become my favourite thing to do. Not only is it more relaxing in my opinion, but the benefits mentally and physically are priceless!
For me, being my own navigator, and having the ability to stop and explore whenever I feel like it, is all I need to jump in the saddle and head out solo. From many years of group riding, and never feeling like I enjoyed the experience, I knew solo riding was my thing.
If you are a group rider, you know having your wits about you is paramount. Now, I'm not suggesting for one minute you solo ride and tune out, I'm just pointing out the mental clarity and super focus we have to have when riding in a group. For me, this is so draining.
As the mind is over stimulated, the stress hormones start to kick in, and instead of a relaxing ride, it can become full of hightened anxiety. And for me, I'm all about keeping my nervous system as balanced as possible. When the mind is flooded with anxiety, the muscles in the body start to tense, which in turn locks up the joints, so when you finish your ride, you are stiff and stressed, and happy to dismount the saddle.
So, the benefits of solo riding are, you get to enjoy the ride at your own pace. There is no one in front or behind, just you and the open road, a feeling of ultimate freedom, if the roads are clear ahead of course. You set the pace, destination, time and everything else you may want to do.
To pull over and park the bike up to get a great photo opportunity, or spot a cool looking food spot for lunch or dinner. Even better, to ride further than you had planned and do a stop over in a hotel. It's complete freedom, everything our Motorcycles stand for.
If you've never ridden solo or do mainly group riding, give a few solo trips a go, you just might like it!
